Industrial Policies: credit, innovation, environment and energy for business competitiveness

Industrial policies encompass any type of government intervention or policy aimed at improving the business environment or shifting the structure of economic activity towards sectors, technologies, or activities expected to offer better prospects for economic growth and social welfare than would occur in the absence of such intervention.

These policies, therefore, play a decisive role in the life of businesses.

Our core activity therefore lies in evaluating, representing, and defending the interests of Lombard—and Italian—businesses across all areas of industrial policy, with particular attention to innovation, credit, and environmental and energy policies.

To achieve this objective, Confindustria Lombardia also draws on the work of the Industrial Policy Technical Committee—which includes the Credit & Incentives area, the Innovation area, and a special unit for Confidi—the Environment Technical Committee, and the Energy Technical Committee. Specifically, the technical committees are composed of officials from the federated Territorial Associations who specialise in the various areas within the committee's remit.

The technical and specialist support of the committees allows us to be perceived by public institutions as privileged technical interlocutors in industrial policy matters—due to our expertise in the subject matter and our granular knowledge of the region—and, consequently, to influence and guide their policies and interventions. All this to achieve a single goal: to create growth and prosperity for the productive sector.

Sub-areas: Environment and Energy, Credit and Incentives, Industry 4.0, Innovation, Sustainable Development.

Territorial Policies, Infrastructure and Transport

The area also oversees the Lombardy Region's activities regarding urban planning and the development of the infrastructure and transport system. Territorial governance is a fundamental factor for the competitiveness and attractiveness of the economy: the objective is to promote a general sustainable development strategy that takes into account the complexity of the Lombard economic-industrial system when defining policies for managing territorial resources.

An efficient infrastructure system is an essential element for the modernisation of the production system: on one hand, it reduces business costs, and on the other, it increases the value added of production. To this end, Confindustria Lombardia draws on the work of the Territory and Infrastructure Technical Committee, composed of officials responsible for the Lombard territorial associations.

Sub-areas: Institutional Affairs, Research Department, Infrastructure and Transport, Healthcare and Services, Territory.
