Business and diplomacy in Lombardy: the Consular Corps roadshow

On 11 December, during the Presidential Council meeting and in the presence of the Dean of the Consular Corps of Milan and Lombardy, Ms Veronica Crego Porley, the project “Business and diplomacy in the Lombardy territories: the consular corps roadshow” was launched. This initiative, promoted by Confindustria Lombardia, aims to strengthen dialogue between the regional production system and the diplomatic and consular representations of countries identified as priorities by the 2025 Internationalisation Survey.

The project was created to foster new economic and commercial collaboration opportunities between Lombardy-based companies and the international markets considered most strategic for the regional production sector: the United States, Germany, India, the United Arab Emirates, France, Canada, Brazil, Spain, China, Saudi Arabia, and Japan.

The roadshow will consist of four stages throughout 2026, each hosted by a different Lombardy territory and dedicated to key production supply chains:

  1. The first stage will take place on 24 March 2026 in Castellanza, organised in conjunction with Confindustria Varese, and will be dedicated to the technical textiles sector, a historic and strategic industry for the local economy: INFO

  2. The second event is scheduled for 2 July 2026 in Pavia, organised with Assolombarda, and will focus on life sciences and microelectronics, areas with high technological content and strong international growth.

  3. The third stage will take place on 14 October 2026 in Lecco, with Confindustria Lecco and Sondrio and Confindustria Como, featuring an in-depth look at innovative processes in the manufacturing sector.

  4. The roadshow will conclude on 18 November 2026 in Brescia, with Confindustria Brescia and Confindustria Bergamo, with a focus on advanced manufacturing and enabling technologies, which are fundamental levers for the competitiveness of Lombardy companies in global markets.

The roadshow aims to strengthen the dialogue between businesses, institutions, and diplomatic representations, encouraging discussion on priority markets and creating new collaboration opportunities for Lombardy’s production supply chains.

The four stages of the roadshow will be moderated by Il Sole 24 Ore journalist Luca Orlando.
