Negotiations between the P5+1 countries (United States, Russia, China, Great Britain, France, Germany) and the government in Tehran have formally concluded, with a definitive agreement reached on the Iranian nuclear issue.

Il piano d’azione comune (“Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action” - JCPOA) e i cinque allegati tecnici (1. sul nucleare; 2. sulle sanzioni; 3. sulla cooperazione energetica sul nucleare civile; 4. su una commissione congiunta; 5. sull’implementazione) stabiliscono un programma di lungo termine con limitazioni concordate sul nucleare iraniano e determineranno la revoca progressiva delle sanzioni adottate dal Consiglio di Sicurezza delle Nazioni Unite, nonché delle misure restrittive di natura economica e finanziaria imposte da Stati Uniti e Unione Europea nei confronti dell’Iran (che, tuttavia, potranno tornare in vigore in caso di inadempienze da parte iraniana. La revoca è, infatti, contestuale all’attuazione, verificata dall’AIEA, l’Agenzia Onu specializzata per il nucleare, dei principali impegni dell’Iran).

At present, the negotiations are in the finalisation phase (pending approval by the UN Security Council).
To date, the sanctions have not yet been lifted; therefore, until the texts are adopted and the subsequent implementation phase begins, the fundamental framework of both European Union and United States sanctions remains in force.
