3I Voucher – Investing in Innovation: €19.5 million to support innovative start-ups throughout the various stages of the patenting process

Applications for the “3I Voucher – Investing in Innovation” incentive, promoted by the Ministry of Economic Development (MiSE) in collaboration with Invitalia, will open at 12:00 p.m. on 15/06/2020. The initiative is aimed at innovative start-ups and aims to fund the purchase of specialised patent consultancy services, specifically:

  • patentability searches;
  • drafting of the application;
  • filing of the application abroad.

The total budget allocated to this call for applications amounts to €19.5 million, which will be disbursed to the successful start-ups via vouchers that can be used as follows:

  • patentability search: €2,000 + VAT;
  • drafting and filing of the patent application: €4,000 + VAT;
  • filing of the national patent application abroad: €6,000 + VAT.

Each innovative start-up may request a maximum of 3 vouchers per category (9 vouchers in total) within a 12-month period calculated from the date of the first request. Applications may be submitted via the online procedure on the Invitalia website.

There is no deadline for submitting applications, which will be assessed on a first-come, first-served basis until the available resources are exhausted (of which immediate notice will be given via a specific directorial decree published on the MiSE and Invitalia websites).

For further information, please refer to the dedicated section on the Invitalia website and the relevant ministerial decree, which can be downloaded at the bottom of this news item.

The Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) node of Confindustria Lombardia is available to innovative start-ups wishing to submit an application and requiring advisory services.
