Confindustria Lombardia, as part of the Enterprise Europe Network, supports the participation of Lombard SMEs in this consultation, promoted by the European Commission. The data collected will be transmitted exclusively in anonymous form to the relevant EC departments.
The European Commission intends to make it easier and more cost-effective for SMEs to publish their websites in multiple languages, by providing an automated translation mechanism based on eTranslation, the machine translation system developed to facilitate access to EU digital services, the use of which has recently been extended to all European SMEs.
This initiative is part of the European Commission's efforts to support SMEs in overcoming potential language barriers, which can represent an obstacle to operating within the single market, thereby fostering cross-border trade. Automated website translation can, in fact, improve the positioning of companies in foreign markets, thus supporting the growth of their business internationally.
This document does not represent an official position of the European Commission. It is a tool for exploring the views of stakeholders. The suggestions contained in the document do not prejudge the form or content of any future proposal by the European Commission.
The consultation is based on a questionnaire to be completed online at this link by 13 April.
