
The European Commission has published the results for the 17 September 2015 cut-off date for Phase 1 and 2 of the Horizon 2020 SME Instrument.
In Phase 1, out of 1,873 proposals received, the Executive Agency for SMEs (EASME) selected 141 for funding. Regarding Italy's performance, Italian companies have confirmed their position as the best in Europe, with 30 beneficiaries selected out of a total of 449 proposals submitted, representing a success rate of 6%. They are followed by Spanish (24) and British (15) companies.
As for Phase 2, a total of 10 Italian companies were successful, out of a total of 38 at European level. As with Phase 1, Italian SMEs are in first place, followed by Spanish (9) and British (3) companies.
In this cut-off, Lombard SMEs also distinguished themselves, with 7 beneficiaries in Phase 1 having submitted 6 winning projects, accounting for approximately 25% of the Italian beneficiary companies. For Phase 2, there are 4 Lombard beneficiaries, two of which were already Phase 1 beneficiaries last year.
