Experts selected to define the Horizon Europe research and innovation missions

The European Commission has announced the names of the experts selected as members of the mission boards, the bodies tasked with working on five European research and innovation missions for the upcoming Horizon Europe (2021-2027) programme. By the end of the year, the boards - each consisting of 15 experts - will identify the initial specific missions concerning cancer, climate change, clean oceans, carbon-neutral cities, and healthy food and soil. Each mission will be supported by an assembly comprising a larger number of experts, with the aim of providing additional ideas, knowledge, and expertise to ensure the success of the five missions.

The selection process, which involved over 2,100 applicants, has ensured a balanced composition of the boards, with members drawn from diverse backgrounds including academia, civil society, industry, finance, and end-users.
