Confindustria Lombardia has become acutely aware of the need to bridge the gap in participation in European projects between Italian companies and their European counterparts, such as those in Germany. It has taken on the responsibility of encouraging its members to take advantage of calls for tenders for the purchase of services, supplies, or works, as well as European funding opportunities.
With this in mind, the "EU Development Cooperation: New Trends and Opportunities for Italian Companies" roadshow presented the new instruments that the European Commission has made available to the private sector (blending) to promote cooperation and, above all, business projects in certain developing countries.
During the seminar, the Government's progress on incentives was also outlined: the activation of a partnership with SIMEST, the opening of a new agency for cooperation, and the reform of Law 125 of August 2014, which formally recognised the role of the private sector as an actor in development cooperation.
Thanks to the collaboration of all territorial associations, coordinated by Confindustria Lombardia, and with the support of the Delegation in Brussels, the Milan leg of the roadshow recorded the highest number of attendees.
Mozambique has proven to be a country of extreme interest, not only for the energy sector but also for the agri-food and healthcare sectors.
The organisation of the roadshow was promoted by Confindustria, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Italian Trade Agency (ICE), and supported by the Enterprise Europe Network project.
