1. Industrial biotechnology partners of any size, especially SMEs with a strong interest in a "green" production route for propionic acid and its commercial exploitation. The partner should ideally have experience in the development of biotechnological processes. The partner should be experienced in working with anaerobic microbes and wish to participate in the scale-up of the new biotechnological process to a semi-pilot scale (1000 L / TLR 5/6).
2. Industrial partners, especially SMEs with an interest in using propionic acid as a bio-based product in other applications. These might, for example, be producers of organic animal feed or producers of "green" additives for food or pharmaceuticals.
3. A partner from the cheese industry would also be welcome to support the project's need for different qualities of whey waste. The bio-based propionate production will then be tuned to the waste provided. Dairy farms or cheese factories could benefit from the project through the exploitation of whey waste.
