
The European Commission has published the “EU Industrial R&D Investment Scoreboard” report for 2019. The report examines the 2,500 companies that invested the most in research and development in 2018/2019. It is worth noting that, collectively, they account for 90% of global business-funded research and development.
The number of European companies examined is 551 (25% of the total), while the United States leads the ranking with 769 companies (38%). However, Europe is ahead of Japan, which stands at 318 (13%), China with 507 (12%), and the remaining 355 from the rest of the world (12%).
In terms of content, the report covers various topics, including key changes and global R&D trends, companies' economic indicators over recent years, and their performance over the last decade. Furthermore, it also includes analyses in the fields of patents and environmental technologies.
