The European Commission has published a report on the implementation and monitoring of the Horizon 2020 programme, analysing the results of the programme from calls concluded in 2015. This report aims to identify the most relevant aspects of each Horizon 2020 programme action, with data on project performance measured through Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
The document contains data on aspects relating to the implementation of and participation in the various programmes, with historical trends from 2014 to the present, providing data for all significant priorities and specific objectives of Horizon 2020. Furthermore, the report provides information on the activities of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), as well as the Euratom research and training programme.
The report highlights an average success rate for proposals submitted at the European level of 11.8% for 2014 and 2015. During the same period, 9,087 grant agreements were signed for a total of €15.9 billion in EU funding. Italy ranks fifth in terms of funds received through Horizon 2020 calls for 2015, with performance in line with Spain and France, which are slightly ahead. Great Britain and Germany remain in the top positions for funds received during the same period. Finally, given the significant impact that Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) projects can still generate, the report includes a section dedicated to the results of the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) for projects still in progress.
Until 15 January 2017, a public consultation is also open with the aim of gathering feedback from a wide audience on certain aspects of Horizon 2020 implementation. In particular, researchers, entrepreneurs, and any organisation that has participated in Horizon 2020 calls are invited to take part in the consultation.
