2015 calls for proposals from the Bio-based Industries Joint Undertaking have been published

The Bio-based Industries Joint Undertaking (BBI JU) has published its 2015 call for proposals, featuring 19 topics dedicated to Research and Innovation Actions (RIA), Demonstration Actions (DEMO), and Coordination and Support Actions (CSA). The calls focus on the following themes:

  • From lignocellulosic feedstock to advanced biofuels, bio-based chemicals and biomaterials
  • The next generation forest-based value chains
  • The next generation agro-based value chains
  • Emergence of new value chains from (organic) waste

The calls have a total budget of €106 million and the deadline for submissions is 3 December.

The BBI JU is a public-private partnership between the European Commission and the Bio-based Industries Consortium, a multisectoral association representing the private sector that brings together over 200 members, including SMEs, large corporations, universities, and bioeconomy clusters. The partnership has a total budget of €3.7 billion for the 2014-2020 period.

Established under the Horizon 2020 programme, the Bio-based Industries Joint Undertaking aims to contribute to the creation of a cleaner, low-carbon economy by developing increasingly competitive bio-based industries in Europe that utilise biomass from more advanced and sustainable biorefineries.
