In December 2018, the President of Assolombarda, Carlo Bonomi, the President of Confindustria Lombardia, Marco Bonometti, and the Director General at the MAECI, Lorenzo Angeloni, signed a Declaration of Intent with the aim of strengthening collaborative relations and increasing support for the internationalisation of Lombard companies.

The Declaration, which in 2019 proved to be an effective tool for intensifying joint initiatives—particularly with the aim of promoting the excellence of "Made in Italy" and the Lombardy healthcare system abroad, as well as business culture and investment in the region—was promptly renewed to continue leveraging economic diplomacy in the service of the industrial sector.
