LIFE Programme: integrated projects, Italy among the beneficiaries

Under the LIFE 2014-2020 call for proposals, the European Commission has selected the first 6 integrated projects of the new programme:

  • Living River Lahn, Germany (€15.7 million);
  • LIFE-IP MAŁOPOLSKA, Poland (€16.7 million);
  • LIFE-IP RBMP-NWRBD UK, United Kingdom (€20 million);
  • BNIP – Belgian Nature Integrated Project, Belgium (€19 million);
  • FRESHABIT LIFE-IP, Finland (€20 million);
  • LIFE IP GESTIRE 2020, Italy (€17.3 million).

These 6 initiatives will receive a total EU contribution of €63.8 million and could mobilise over one billion euros in complementary funding from agricultural and regional funds, as well as national and private sources.

The beneficiary projects include LIFE IP GESTIRE 2020, coordinated by the Lombardy Region, which aims to improve the Natura 2000 network and the implementation of the Birds and Habitats Directives in the region through the creation of an integrated management structure.

The resources for the implementation of the project amount to €17.3 million, of which €10 million is provided by the EU. The project is scheduled for completion on 31 December 2023.
