ASSIST Project, technical profiles toolkit released

Following the ASSIST Project (Systemic Actions for the Development of Technical Education), which in 2017 led to the design and implementation of work-study programmes involving over 300 students and 156 companies in the Lombardy region, an operational Toolkit has been published. This toolkit analyses the 10 most sought-after technical professional roles in Lombardy (Designer, Production Technician, Maintenance Technician, Service and Installation Technician, Import/Export Technician, Digital Communication and Marketing Technician, Supply Chain Technician, Software Developer, Network and IT Security Technician, Accountant specialising in ERP systems).

For each role, six key performance areas have been identified, which define the professional role in terms of the results required to contribute effectively to the work process.

For each of these key performance areas, the skills and knowledge that a young person must activate, combine and apply to ensure the expected performance have been identified.

The Toolkit will serve as a useful instrument to facilitate dialogue and collaboration between schools and businesses involved in technical training, with the aim of providing a common language for:

  • designing and implementing effective training initiatives for the development of the technical professional skills required by the labour market;
  • designing and managing induction programmes that support young people in progressively taking on technical roles within companies.
  • The ASSIST project toolkit is attached
