As part of the Metalmec project, the Lombardy Region hosted a delegation of 12 Brazilian companies from the State of Pernambuco between 21 and 25 September, all seeking Italian partners. Confindustria Lombardia supported the project as it is considered strategic; it encourages collaboration between production chains by leveraging Lombardy’s technological clusters, and it connects two geographical and industrial regions, Lombardy and Pernambuco, which share a mutual interest in developing profitable synergies.

On 22 September, a seminar was held with 107 companies and industry experts in attendance, focusing on business opportunities and engagement through an analysis of the characteristics and complementarities of the two regions. With the participation of three Lombardy technological clusters—the Lombardy Energy Cleantech Cluster, the Lombardy Mobility Cluster, and Smart Cities and Communities—76 B2B meetings and 5 site visits to companies associated with the clusters were organised.

The objective of Confindustria Lombardia is to work alongside the Lombardy Region to strengthen commercial and technological relations between Lombardy’s technological clusters and SMEs in Pernambuco. This initiative aims to foster the development of partnerships, particularly in sectors with strong growth potential in Pernambuco, such as automotive, offshore naval, petrochemical, and renewables, including the wind energy sector.
