The EU Business Hub programme, funded by the European Union, aims to support European businesses in the green, digital and healthcare sectors to enter the Japanese and South Korean markets.
The programme will organise 20 business missions – 10 to Japan and 10 to South Korea – over the next four years, offering 50 cutting-edge companies the opportunity to benefit from intensive business training.
The Japanese and Korean markets offer numerous opportunities.
Japan, in addition to being the fourth-largest global economy, remains an attractive market for EU businesses, partly due to the growing strength of the bilateral trade and investment partnership, reinforced by the fifth anniversary of the EU-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement in February 2024. Initiatives such as the EU-Japan Green Alliance and the EU-Japan Digital Partnership are examples of bilateral cooperation to promote a transition towards climate-neutral economies and to advance the resilience of global supply chains and emerging technologies.
South Korea, the world's tenth-largest economy and the fourth-largest in Asia, is an essential strategic partner for the EU. The continued development of this strategic partnership is supported by the EU-South Korea FTA, in force since 2011. Recently, a Digital and Green Partnership was launched, aiming to enhance cooperation on shared digital and green transitions.
The programme offers professional coaching, business opportunities enhanced through tailored B2B meetings, increased visibility in markets through trade fair promotions and logistical support during business missions. Furthermore, it minimises costs through shared resources and collective activities, with options for co-funded bespoke services.
To discover full details of the initiative, an online event will be held on 28 May 2024, featuring contributions from European Commission representatives and business leaders who will share the objectives and benefits of the initiative.
