From 7 November 2017, the EIC Fast Track to Innovation (FTI) instrument became a central component of the European Innovation Council (EIC) pilot project. The EIC FTI is a fully bottom-up H2020 measure that promotes close-to-market innovation activities, aiming to reduce the time from idea generation to commercialisation and to increase the participation of industry and SMEs in Horizon 2020 as a whole.

The European Innovation Council pilot project supports world-class innovators, entrepreneurs, small businesses and scientists with brilliant ideas and the ambition to scale up internationally. It brings together the parts of Horizon 2020 that provide funding, advice and networking opportunities for those at the forefront of innovation.
