Following the 9th Italian-Swiss Dialogue held in Ascona on 4 May, in which Confindustria Lombardia participated, economic operators are advised that the Italian request to postpone the registration deadline for the Register of Craft Businesses, as required by the LIA Law and originally set for 1 August 2016, has been accepted by the Council of State of the Republic and Canton of Ticino, which has deferred this deadline to 1 October 2016.
As a forum for meeting and discussion regarding the LIA, the Regio Insubrica Economic Roundtable was subsequently convened on 18 May, with Confindustria Lombardia participating at the invitation of the Lombardy Region. During this meeting, the Director of the Ticino Register of Craftsmen, Cristina Bordoli Poggi, confirmed that work experience gained in Italy is valid for admission to the Register, effectively resolving one of the primary issues associated with the cantonal law in question; she also committed to amending the guidelines to clarify this point for businesses.
The issue regarding the registration fee in relation to the shorter number of days that an Italian company is entitled to work in Switzerland (the 90-day limit) remains unresolved, and it is intended that this will be addressed with the Ticino counterpart before the law comes into force.
