Confindustria Lombardia has expressed its concern to the Lombardy Region Environment Department regarding the urgent need for intervention following the Regional Administrative Court (TAR) ruling at the end of July. This ruling annulled Regional Executive Resolution X/7076 of 11/09/2017, which had established specific limit values for the use of sewage sludge in agriculture.

Consequently, storage and reuse companies have halted the collection of sludge at their facilities, as they are no longer able to carry out recovery activities for agricultural purposes and are therefore unable to continue operations.

This measure is having serious and concerning repercussions for manufacturing companies, which are now in a position where they cannot resume production or will soon be forced to halt operations due to the inability to send sludge for storage, recovery, or disposal at treatment plants.
