Innosup DigiCirc: grants and support for circular economy digitalisation projects

The DigiCirc H2020-INNOSOUP-1 project has published its first call for proposals, which opened on 1 November. DigiCirc will select a minimum of 15 consortia, each consisting of at least 2 SMEs / start-ups developing innovative solutions to address the challenges of circular cities:

• Autonomous cities - The circular economy applied to cities could lead to autonomous and resilient circular cities by creating circuits of resources produced and consumed locally;

• Waste management - Ensuring that waste is no longer waste by minimising its production and extending the duration of its use (reuse, repair, sale, donation, etc.) and recycling raw materials.

• Sustainable consumption - Whether as a citizen in our private lives or as a professional actor during project development, the notion of circularity must be integrated into every purchasing decision.

• Education - The transition towards a circular economy must be supported by the education of professionals, children and citizens so that everyone can be an agent of change.

To address these challenges, the solutions on which the consortia must focus must belong to one or more of the following key sectors:

  • Buildings & Construction
  • Plastics
  • Food
  • Energy
  • Water

The selected consortia will receive a grant of up to 20,000 euros and will join a highly intensive and innovative 12-week innovation support programme, divided into two phases. Phase 1 will focus on developing their business plan and adapting their solution to the target area, while Phase 2 will aim to demonstrate their solutions in the relevant environment and shape their commercial strategy.

At the end of the acceleration programme, 5 consortia will be selected to receive an additional grant of 100,000 euros. These consortia will have up to 6 months to develop their prototype and carry out tests in an operational environment ahead of a commercial launch.

A matchmaking platform is also available to search for other SMEs in order to build a consortium. SMEs will also have access to 4 digital tools, individual business coaching support and thematic mentoring provided by industry experts.

The deadline for the call is 14 January.
