Business incentives: the Nuova Sabatini scheme reopens

The Ministry of Economic Development has announced that, as of 7 February, the application portal for the “Nuova Sabatini” business incentives will reopen.

A total of €480 million has been allocated under the 2019 Budget Law to continue supporting small and medium-sized enterprises looking to invest in capital goods.

The measure aims to incentivise digital manufacturing and increase innovation and efficiency within the business sector through the purchase of machinery, plant and equipment.

Introduced in 2013, the “Nuova Sabatini” has been a key support tool for the modernisation and growth of the Italian production system in recent years. To date, over 63,000 applications have been submitted by small and medium-sized enterprises, with total grants awarded exceeding one billion euros.

The significant success of the measure among the business community has led to the reopening of the application portal until the new funds are exhausted.

The structure of the grant remains unchanged, with a 2.75% annual contribution for standard investments and a 30% increase—totalling 3.575% per annum—for investments in digital technologies, including big data, cloud computing, ultra-broadband, cybersecurity, advanced robotics and mechatronics, augmented reality, 4D manufacturing, radio frequency identification, and waste tracking and weighing systems.
