The call for applications for small and medium-sized enterprises, “Horizon 2020: Innovation Associate programme”, opens today, 3 September. Successful applicants will receive a non-repayable grant enabling them to hire a post-doctoral researcher for a period of one year to work on an innovative project for the company.

The purpose of the call is to assist small and medium-sized enterprises that require specific expertise to develop an innovative idea where such skills are not available domestically. Companies will therefore be supported in hiring an Innovation Associate, a researcher with highly qualified experience tasked with exploring the idea and transforming it into an innovative project.

Please note that the call covers all costs associated with the Innovation Associate, namely staff costs, relocation expenses (such as visa costs, travel for the individual and their family, and document translation) and training costs. All costs not directly related to the employment and training of the Innovation Associate are excluded, for example: costs related to the implementation of the idea/project, research activities, and dissemination or promotional activities.
