DIH Agri-food has launched a hackathon aimed at identifying new agri-food products and/or services that address the challenges posed by COVID-19. Specifically, participation is open to:
- Farmers
- Food producers
- Farmers' associations
- Food supply chains
- Any other stakeholder in the agri-food sector.
The solutions presented must focus on reducing the negative effects of COVID-19 on the food sector and/or on strengthening the resilience of food supply chains and food production in general in response to pandemic situations. Proposals may concern products in the form of a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) or fully developed products, as well as services that can be delivered, promoted, or marketed. Only one solution may be submitted; if a participant submits multiple proposals, only the first one chronologically will be considered.
In the first selection phase, all received proposals will be evaluated, and 15 of these will be selected to proceed to the subsequent stages. Specifically, the 15 best solutions will have access to:
- Mentoring programme: a 6-8 hour mentoring programme that will be conducted online by three international mentors.
- Event and pitch: selected participants will be able to take part in a pitch event held in conjunction with the ‘’New technologies in agrifood’’ conference organised by Agrobiznis. The event will take place on 24/11/2020 in a blended format: in-person in Ljubljana (Slovenia) and simultaneously online. The pitches will be evaluated by 3 experts who will select 3 winners. The three final winners will receive the following prizes respectively:
- FARM2FORK HACK Gold award: 3,000 euros
- FARM2FORK HACK Silver award: 2,000 euros
- FARM2FORK HACK Bronze award: 2,000 euros.
- Acceleration programme:
- All participants who have submitted their proposal will be registered on theDIH AGRIFOOD COOPERATION PLATFORM and supported by facilitators who will follow them in the long term; they will also have the opportunity to register on the SmartAgriHubs Innovation portal.
- The 15 participants selected to proceed to the stages following the first will be promoted and presented through a dedicated article and the publication of their product catalogue across various platforms and websites within the DIH Agri-food sphere of influence.
Proposals can be submitted via the F6S platform by 17:00 CET on 07/10/2020.
