The European Commission has officially adopted the Action Plan for the EU Strategy for the Alpine Region (EUSALP), the fourth EU macro-regional strategy.
The Strategy involves 5 Member States (Austria, France, Germany, Italy and Slovenia) and 2 non-EU countries (Liechtenstein and Switzerland), covering a total of over 40 regions and more than 70 million inhabitants.
EUSALP aims to create joint and integrated actions across the territories by building an efficient multi-level governance model and establishing enhanced cooperation in the following policy areas:
1. economic growth and innovation;
2. connectivity and mobility;
3. environment and energy;
The Strategy for the Alpine Region does not involve the creation of new funding sources. The Action Plan, which is divided into 4 objectives and 9 specific actions, will be implemented through projects that leverage synergies between existing funds at various levels of government (EU, national and regional).
