European Innovation Council pilot: over €210 million awarded to 108 innovative projects

The European Commission has published the data regarding the latest funding round of the EIC Innovation Council pilot (EIC) programme210.2 million euros have been awarded to a total of 108 innovative projects, both under the EIC Accelerator and the Fast Track to Innovation schemes.

Each project will receive a non-repayable grant of between 0.5 and 3 million euros: thanks to this funding, the beneficiary companies will be able to finance their innovative close-to-market activities in order to access the market more rapidly.

Specifically, regarding the EIC Accelerator, €177 million has been awarded to 96 companies from 20 different countries. For this part of the EIC Pilot, each project will receive up to 2.5 million euros to fund demonstration, testing and scaling-up activities.

Under the Fast Track to Innovation scheme, approximately €33 million has been awarded to 14 innovative projects involving 56 partners across 19 countries: each project will benefit from approximately €2 million.

In both programmes, the winning companies will receive 14 days of free 14 days of business coaching and acceleration services.

The selected projects include, by way of example, a recyclable kitchen hob, a hybrid simulation platform for neurosurgery, an anti-metastatic cancer vaccine, and technology that replicates the rainfall process to provide sustainable drinking water.
