European Green Deal Call: statistics published

The European Green Deal Call, part of the Horizon 2020 programme, closed on 27 January. It aims to fund research and innovation projects to address the climate crisis. The call has a budget of €1 billion.

Statistically, the Commission has received 1,550 proposals, demonstrating the high level of participation from the research community in Europe and beyond.

In particular, the proposals are broken down by area:

  • Increasing climate ambition : 101
  • Clean, affordable and secure energy : 256
  • Industry for a clean and circular economy : 108
  • Energy and resource efficient buildings: 115
  • Sustainable and smart mobility: 44
  • Farm to fork: 260
  • Biodiversity and ecosystems: 72
  • Zero-pollution, toxic-free environments: 115
  • Strengthening knowledge : 106
  • Empowering citizens : 373

The proposals received will now be evaluated by independent expert panels, and the first selected projects will commence in autumn 2021.
