Statistics have been published for the 8 November 2023 cut-off of the EIC Accelerator call, managed by the European Innovation Council.
A total of 1,083 applications were submitted by both start-ups and SMEs. Blended finance (grant plus equity) remains highly popular, with 666 companies requesting it (61% of all applicants). Meanwhile, 148 companies requested only the grant and 269 companies applied for the grant-first option (with the possibility of equity investment at a later stage).
A total of 17% of all proposals were submitted by women-led companies.
Applicants represent 39 different countries, with the highest number of participants coming from Germany, France and Israel.
The proposals will now be evaluated by experts, and companies that pass this selection stage will be invited to present before a jury of investors and business experts in January 2024, so that a decision on the successful companies can be reached by the end of February 2024.
