The European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMA) has published the statistics for the EIC Accelerator call for the 16 June 2021 cut-off.

A total of 801 full applications were received by EISMA: the vast majority (663, 83%) requested blended finance (grant plus equity), while only 138 proposals (17%) were for grant only.

The total amount requested by the companies is €4.85 billion.

In total, 375 companies submitted applications for the Open Call to fund breakthrough innovations in any field of technology or application, while the majority (426) requested support to develop breakthrough innovations in strategic digital and health technologies (223) or for the Green Deal challenge (203).

Furthermore, 17.5% of the companies that submitted applications are led by women.

The project proposal selection process now involves an evaluation by independent experts, and the invitation of selected companies to present their projects to a jury of investors and experts in September. The final results are expected in October 2021.
