The European Commission has awarded €176 million to 38 SMEs and startups under the EIC Accelerator call, for the 7 October cut-off.
The number of applications received by the European Innovation Council reached a record high of 4,223 submissions, with a success rate of 0.9%.
The winning companies come from 18 different countries: the most represented are Germany (7), France (4), and Israel (4), with 21% having a female CEO. The only Italian company selected is DazeTechnology Srl from Bergamo, which, thanks to its DazePlug project (the first automatic conductive charger for electric vehicles), will benefit from a grant and an equity investment.
The winners will receive between a minimum of €1 million and a maximum of €17 million to develop and scale disruptive innovations in Europe. These innovations include a revolutionary device for the rapid detection of sepsis, innovative robotic sorting technology to reduce hazardous waste, and the first indoor lighting system that can be controlled to reduce energy costs.
Furthermore, 1,291 companies that were selected but will not receive funding will be awarded the Seal of Excellence, a recognition that will assist them in accessing other forms of financing.
