The European Commission has announced the award of 562 Seals of Excellence following the May call for the EIC Accelerator.
This call focused on themes related to the European Green Deal, such as climate mitigation and/or adaptation, the transition of industry towards a clean and/or circular economy, zero pollution, and the achievement of a toxic-free environment.
The Commission received 2,101 applications from 38 different countries: of these, 562 were awarded this recognition, which, while not providing direct funding due to a lack of resources, certifies their high quality with the aim of helping the companies involved access funding from other sources and successfully implement their projects.
In terms of figures, 37 Italian proposals received the recognition: Italy is therefore the seventh-ranked country, behind Spain (62), Germany (61), Switzerland and Israel (46 each), the Netherlands (45), and France (44).
In Italy, the region that received the most Seals of Excellence is Lombardy (13), followed by Emilia-Romagna (6), and, tied, Tuscany, Lazio, and the Autonomous Province of Bolzano (3 each).
