The European Commission has announced that over 2,000 applications were received for the EIC Accelerator May cut-off, which focused on the Green Deal. In total, the funding requested amounts to approximately €7.8 billion, against a budget of around €300 million.
Statistically, approximately 41% of companies applied for blended finance (grant plus equity), accounting for 73.8% of the total funding requested.
Applications were received from 38 different countries: among these, the countries with the highest number of applicants are Italy, Germany, Spain, and France.
Another recorded figure is that at least 19% of startup and SME CEOs are women. According to the recent update to the EIC Work Programme, if, following the remote evaluation of the first round, at least 25% of the companies selected for the final stage interviews are not led by women, additional interviews will be scheduled. The interviews are expected to take place in the first and/or second week of July.
