The European Commission has received 3,968 applications for the 20 March cut-off date of the EIC Accelerator call, with over 1,000 relating to the fight against COVID-19. The companies selected to receive funding, which totals €164 million, will be decided by an independent jury following a preliminary remote evaluation. Final interviews for companies that pass the remote evaluation are scheduled from 4 to 8 May. Results will be announced a few weeks later.
Statistically, it should be noted that approximately one quarter of the companies requested blended finance (grant plus equity). Applications were received from companies in 45 different countries: the most represented in terms of numbers were Italy, Germany, Spain and Israel.
