EIC Accelerator: €363 million awarded to 65 innovative start-ups and SMEs

The European Commission has awarded €363 million to 65 start-ups and innovative SMEs under the EIC Accelerator call, for the cut-off of 16 June last.

Since the launch of the EIC Programme in March this year, more than 4,000 start-ups and SMEs have applied for funding; of these, 801 were invited to submit a full application for the first cut-off in June and 1,098 for the second cut-off in October (project proposals are currently being evaluated, with final results expected in December).

The 65 winning companies from the first cut-offcome from 16 countries; the most represented are France (12), Germany (11) and the Netherlands (8). The Italian start-ups selected are two, both from Lombardy: EnGenome SRL and Voiseed SRL.

EnGenome SRL is a spin-off from the University of Pavia specialising in bioinformatics applied to molecular medicine. The EIC funding will be dedicated to the development of eVai, an innovative platform for the diagnosis and treatment of genetic diseases.

Voiseed SRLopera invece nel settore dell’intelligenza artificiale. In particolare, le sovvenzioni derivanti dall’EIC serviranno a perfezionare una piattaforma rivoluzionaria di Text-to-Speech in grado di creare voci virtuali emotivamente evocative.
