The European Commission has launched two free online platforms to support European economic operators- particularly SMEs - interested in trading with Iran.
The first platform is called the “Due Diligence Helpdesk” and provides tailor-made support to European businesses through due diligence aimed at determining whether specific business projects comply with EU sanctions. The Helpdesk will also provide information by publishing guides, training, webinars and B2B events, with the aim of encouraging greater involvement of European companies in trade with the Asian country and providing reassurance to the banking institutions involved.
The second tool is the “Sanctions Tool”, which consists of a simple interactive online questionnaire that can be completed directly by the SME. The tool aims to provide the company with a general and non-binding indication as to whether its business projects may be subject to EU sanctions against Iran.
