Cluster2Cluster: "zero-mile" internationalisation

The Lombardy Aerospace Cluster, following an initiative proposed by its board to assist SMEs in developing European connections with similarly sized companies within short to medium range, has organised a B2B and site visit programme in Switzerland in partnership with the Swiss Aerospace Cluster.

This BUSINESS NETWORKING format, facilitated through inter-cluster collaboration, connects companies from different regions to foster a form of sustainable internationalisation for SMEs, enabling the development of relationships with market or technology partners where logistics do not present an obstacle.

Twenty-two entrepreneurs attended this inaugural event and expressed high satisfaction with the connections established. It served as an opportunity for introductions, visibility, and scouting for new business prospects.
The innovation lay in focusing on nearby, "local" entities with whom the full potential of collaboration had not yet been exploited. The Cluster successfully enabled its members to access entities that would otherwise have been inaccessible individually, offering a convenient and cost-effective organisational package, as well as the added value of presenting themselves as a Lombard supply chain.
The initiative will continue through the follow-up of relationships established with the Swiss cluster and the identification of new target countries in which to replicate the project.
