La Commissione Europea ha annunciato l’imminente lancio, nel contesto del programma Horizon 2020, di una call ad hocinteramente dedicata al Green Deal. L’obiettivo della Call è quello di selezionare progetti che conducano a risultati tangibili e visibili in tempi relativamente brevi, in modo da mostrare come la ricerca e l'innovazione siano funzionali al fornire soluzioni concrete per le principali priorità del Green Deal.

To this end, the call will support:

• pilot applications, demonstration projects and innovative products
• innovation for better management of the green and digital transition
• innovation in social matters and the value chain

The call also encourages experimentation and social innovation in order to create new forms of civil society engagement and to empower citizens.

In terms of structure, the call consists of 11 areas divided as follows:

Area 1: Increasing climate ambition: cross-sectoral challenges;

Area 2: Clean, affordable and secure energy;

Area 3: Industry for a clean and circular economy;

Area 4: Energy- and resource-efficient buildings;

Area 5: Sustainable and smart mobility;

Area 6: From farm to fork;

Area 7: Ecosystems and biodiversity;

Area 8: Zero-pollution for a toxic-free environment;

Area 9: Strengthening our knowledge in support of the European Green Deal;

Area 10: Empowering citizens for the transition towards a climate-neutral and sustainable Europe;

Area 11: Accelerating the transition and access to clean energy in partnership with the African continent.

Per quanto riguarda la timeline, a metà settembre è prevista la pubblicazione e l’apertura contestuale della Call, che chiuderà a fine gennaio 2021. Si informa inoltre che dal 22 al 24 settembre, i soggetti interessati a partecipare avranno l’occasione di trovare potenziali partner all’evento virtuale “European Research and Innovation Days”.
