The European Commission has announced that over 1,500 concept notes were received for the traditional project calls under the LIFE programme sub-programme for environment, which closed between 14 and 16 July.
In percentage terms, approximately 56% of applications fall under the Environment and Resource Efficiency category, 28% under Nature and Biodiversity, and 16% under Environmental Governance and Information.
The proposed projects have a total cost of €5.1 billion: specifically, €2.8 billion for Environment and Resource Efficiency projects, €1.8 billion for Nature and Biodiversity projects, and €513 million for Environmental Governance and Information projects.
The total requested funding amounts to €2.8 billion, an increase compared to the previous year (€2.2 billion).
The next procedural step is the evaluation of the concept notes: applicants whose proposals are pre-selected will be notified in November, and the corresponding full proposals must be submitted by February 2021.
