The Horizon Zero Power Water Monitoring call, promoted by Horizon 2020, aims to stimulate innovation in the field of self-powered, wireless smart technology solutions for real-time water resource monitoring.
This call will award 2 million euros to any entity (innovative start-ups, SMEs, and non-profit organisations) that presents innovative solutions capable of increasing self-generated energy consumption within smart water management systems. The best solutions will be presented to a jury, which will evaluate them according to the following criteria: positive impact, reliability, and innovative design. By stimulating efforts at a European level, this award will enable water distributors to adopt solutions based on a wireless network platform designed for real-time water resource monitoring.
In addition to the three standard criteria, it is required to improve the efficiency of existing monitoring parameters, alongside an interoperable, easy-to-implement solution.
The call for proposals will be open from 19 December 2017 to 11 September 2018.
The competition rules are available online.
