The first 2020 calls for proposals from the ECSEL Joint Undertaking public-private partnership have been published, providing funding for research and innovation projects across numerous sectors.
The partnership aims to contribute to the implementation of the Horizon 2020 programme, addressing various themes such as data protection, artificial intelligence applications in the manufacturing sector, the circular economy, the reduction of energy consumption and the improvement of healthcare systems.
The total budget is 156 million euros, allocated as follows:
- 93 million euros for the ECSEL-2020-1-IA-two stage call: a two-stage call funding innovation actions related to pilot projects, testing and demonstration activities (TRL 5-8); the deadline for the first stage is 17:00 (Brussels time) on 5 May 2020, and the deadline for the second stage is the same time on 16 September 2020;
- 61 million euros for the ECSEL-2020-2-RIA-two stage call: a two-stage call funding research and innovation actions related to applied research, prototype validation and technological development. The deadlines are the same as the previous call.
- 2 million euros for the ECSEL-2020-4-CSA-Digital Excellence call: a single-stage call focusing on digital excellence/semantic web hosting, through coordination and support actions to simplify cooperation between businesses, the public sector and universities. Applications must be submitted by 17:00 (Brussels time) on 5 May 2020.
