The European Commission is developing the Horizon Europe Strategic Plan 2021-2024, the framework programme for research and innovation for 2021-2027, to define the strategic priorities, partnerships, and missions capable of transforming major societal challenges, such as climate change, into innovative solutions for a sustainable future and the tangible improvement of daily life.
Work programmes and calls for proposals will be prepared based on the Strategic Plan. The plan will be approved by the next Commission at the end of 2019, subject to agreement between the European Parliament and the Council on the overall EU budget.
In line with a co-design approach to defining key economic, social, and technological challenges, an online consultation has been launched with the aim of gathering comments and suggestions regarding R&I to be included in its action. The European Research and Innovation Days, which will take place in Brussels from 24 to 26 September 2019, will also form part of the co-design process.
The Commission invites all interested parties to participate in the consultation, which will close on 8 September 2019, by responding to the questionnaire at the following link: https://ec.europa.eu/info/news/have-your-say-future-objectives-eu-funded-research-and-innovation-2019-jun-28_en
