The European Commission has launched an EU consultation on post-safeguard measures and instruments for the protection of the steel sector.
With the Lombardy steel industry accounting for 50% of national production and Brescia being the leading Italian hub for non-ferrous metals, Confindustria Lombardia, in its document “Priorities for Europe shared by Confindustria Lombardia”, has highlighted the main priorities for the regional manufacturing system.
The initiative - which is part of the Steel and Metals Action Plan - will remain open until 18 August 2025 and aims to gather contributions from interested stakeholders, with the goal of protecting the sector from unfair trade practices and the negative effects of persistent global overcapacity, replacing the current safeguard which will expire on 30 June 2026.
Further information on the consultation is available on the official dedicated page.
