EIB-Alba Leasing agreement: nearly one billion euros for Italian SMEs and Midcaps

Financial resources amounting to €1 billion will be made available to Italian SMEs and mid-cap companies thanks to an agreement between the EIB (European Investment Bank Group) and Alba Leasing. The EIB and the EIF (European Investment Fund, controlled by the EIB) have provided Alba Leasing with €490 million through a securitisation financing operation. Alba Leasing has committed to doubling this figure, bringing the total amount available for projects across all economic sectors to nearly €1 billion (specifically €980 million), with a focus on the environmental sector (20% of total resources).

At least two-thirds of the total will go towards financial leasing investments by micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (fewer than 250 employees), while one-third will go to mid-cap companies (up to 3,000 employees). The final amount available will allow for the financing of up to 100% of new investments and projects, with a maximum of €12.5 million per leasing transaction.

Projects may include the purchase of plant, equipment, motor vehicles, machinery, existing or new buildings, cars and other vehicles for professional use. It is estimated that approximately 8,000 Italian businesses will benefit from these new resources.

With regard to green initiatives, funding will be provided for areas such as energy efficiency, energy generation from renewable sources, natural resource conservation measures in specific sectors such as agriculture, livestock, public and private transport, waste collection and treatment, and operations aimed at reducing emissions and the impacts of climate change.
