Following discussions on the implications of the trade war between the United States and China, and India's geoeconomic positioning, the 27 February session is dedicated to the EU-Mercosur Agreement and will focus on the future of trade relations between Europe and Latin America.
In a climate marked by geopolitical tensions, economic fragmentation, and the need to diversify value chains and critical supplies, the EU-Mercosur agreement represents a key component of Brussels' geoeconomic agenda. Yet, after more than twenty years of negotiations, the deal remains in the balance, and Europe risks missing a crucial strategic window.
How can the EU overcome internal political resistance to achieve its trade liberalisation objectives? What are the realistic prospects for the agreement's ratification and its estimated impact on the European economy? And what opportunities—or risks—are emerging for Italian businesses regarding market access and integration into new global supply chains?
These topics and more will be discussed by Paolo Garzotti (Head of Unit, Latin America and Caribbean, DG TRADE, European Commission), Simone Massi (Trade Policy Adviser, European Affairs, Confindustria), and Antonella Mori (Head, Latin America Programme, ISPI), moderated by Filippo Fasulo (Head, Geoeconomics Observatory, ISPI).
Participant registration opens at 09:30.
Attendance is free of charge, subject to registration via this link.
