Growth in Lombardy's industrial production slowed in the second quarter, with a 0.3% increase compared to the previous quarter. On an annual basis, production rose by 3.9%, in line with the previous quarter's change (+3.7%). Initial negative signals are emerging from orders, both domestic (-0.3% quarterly change) and foreign (-0 .1%). Turnover remains positive and has accelerated compared to the previous quarter (+1.6% quarterly).
"The economic analysis of the manufacturing industry in Lombardy for the second quarter of 2018, following a series of quarters of sustained and steady growth, suggests a more moderate outlook," stated Marco Bonometti, President of Confindustria Lombardia. "Despite the deceleration," Bonometti continued, "Lombardy's industry continues its European pursuit: the gap with the Eurozone manufacturing production index is narrowing, and the distance from the Italian average is increasing, confirming that Lombardy is performing on par with the four motors of Europe and the United States."
