Bilateral trade between Lombardy and India reached a record value of €5.54 billion in 2024, an increase of 10.4% compared to the previous year. This is the highest figure ever recorded, accounting for 38.9% of total trade between Italy and India (€14 billion). Lombardy's exports to the Asian country amounted to €1.96 billion, a growth of 9.5% compared to 2023, while imports stood at €3.57 billion, a value that ranks India ninth among the countries from which Lombardy imports the most.
The primary drivers of Lombardy's exports to India are machinery (41%), chemical substances and products (12.95%), basic metals (11%), and pharmaceuticals (9.10%). Conversely, the Lombard goods most in demand in India are computers, electronic and optical equipment (35.17%), and basic metals and metal products (21.41%).
