Smart Living call: Bergamo-based company is the first winner with the AdESA project

Marlegno, a Bergamo-based company specialising in prefabricated construction, has won the Lombardy Region's Smart Living tender with its AdESA project.

Marlegno, a Bergamo-based company and member of Confindustria Bergamo specialising in prefabricated construction, has won the Lombardy Region's Smart Living tender with its AdESA (Architectural, Energy and Seismic Retrofitting) project, with the support of Confindustria Lombardia - Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) and the Lombardy Energy Cleantech Cluster, securing funding of €799,605.

This innovative project, which is due to conclude in the summer of 2019, is the result of collaboration between businesses and academia within an "extended supply chain" framework and involves a total investment of approximately €1.7 million. The project involves the University of Bergamo and the University of Brescia, Harpaceas, a Milan-based leader in the BIM (Building Information Modelling) sector for construction, and Edilmatic, a Cremona-based company specialising in metal connections for prefabricated components.

AdESA is a technological system for the integrated renovation of existing buildings in terms of energy, seismic safety and architecture. The proposed technology is designed to be applied entirely from the exterior, without the need for residents to relocate, and consists of the installation of facade and roof panels—a "structural-energy shell" that encapsulates the existing structure to make it seismically safe and energy-efficient, while also allowing for the architectural restyling of the property.
