Description of content and objectives

The international conference on "Waste-to-Energy for the circular economy" aims to bring together leading experts, top companies and policymakers from across Europe to reflect on the future role of the waste-to-energy sector within the context of the circular economy. How can we facilitate matching and complementarity between material recycling and energy-from-waste production? How can the waste-to-energy sector benefit from the circular economy? These are some of the key issues to be addressed.

This will be a great opportunity for participating companies to raise their profile, expand their network and stay up to date on one of the most important and strategic topics in European environmental policy.

By registering for the conference, you can attend the event with leading European experts, interactive workshops and B2B sessions to facilitate one-to-one meetings between companies, free of charge.

Furthermore, on 22 October, the following guided thematic tours are organised.

Theme A. Waste-to-Energy: a visit to the Amager Resource Centre’s waste-to-energy site. A tour of the REnescience facility, which uses an hydrolysis-based system to treat municipal solid waste, is also planned.

Theme B. BioEnergy: a visit to the largest water treatment plant in the Copenhagen area managed by Biofos. An introduction to the food waste recycling technology developed by BioTrans Nordic and the biogas technology developed by the company Xergi.

Theme C. Waste as a resource: a visit to the “House of Green” in central Copenhagen and an introduction to the environmental strategy launched by the Minister for the Environment. This will be followed by a visit to AffaldPlus, a company active in waste treatment.

The conference is funded by the European Coolsweep project, which aims to identify potential synergies and partnerships between European public and private stakeholders in the field of waste-to-energy.

The Lombardy Energy Cleantech Cluster (LE2C), a project partner, will also be in attendance.

All information regarding the events, partners and logistics for the two days can be found at: http://coolsweep.org/arrangement/.
