The transition from a fossil fuel-based economy to a bio-based economy is considered a driver for competitiveness, representing added value for businesses and a fundamental step towards achieving the goals of the European Green Deal and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The regions of the Alpine Space possess the resources, the knowledge and the technology to develop sustainable solutions across various supply chains, such as timber, food and pharmaceutical packaging, chemicals, and agri-food. The shift to a bio-based economy is therefore an opportunity to be seized.
The AlpLinkBioEco – Linking BioBased Industry Value Chains Across the Alpine Region project was launched in 2018, with Confindustria Lombardia as a partner. AlpLinkBioEco is funded under the Interreg Alpine Space 2014-20 programme and aims to facilitate this transition with regard to circular economy and bioeconomy themes.
Through an interactive database, the Value Chain Generator, the partners initially mapped dozens of sector associations and hundreds of companies, subsequently developing new value chains and opportunities for industrial symbiosis at local, national, and transnational levels. Upon completion of the project, this database will be available to third parties via a licence agreement.
Inoltre, durante il Progetto sono stati raccolti numerosi inputsda diversi stakeholders politici e industriali, che hanno consentito di definire un piano di azione condiviso (Masterplan) per la Bioeconomia nello Spazio Alpino.
The software, pilot experiences, and the Masterplan will be presented during the final conference, organised by Confindustria Lombardia. The event will be held virtually on 31 March from 09:00 to 12:30.
