Customs training courses for optimal trade with the UK

Preparing for post-Brexit: end of the transition period

Event venue

Webinar

Target audience

These sessions are aimed at manufacturing and commercial companies of all sizes, across all sectors, with proven interests in the UK market.

Description of content and objectives

The United Kingdom left the European Union on 31 January 2020 and has officially been a third country since that date, although a transition period is in place until 31 December 2020. Concurrently, negotiations have been initiated between the parties for a comprehensive agreement to regulate future relations, which, regarding trade, aims for a Free Trade Agreement.
Even in the event that a free trade agreement is reached, customs procedures will still be necessary, albeit in simplified forms designed to maintain a high level of fluidity in EU-UK trade.
To avoid losing, and indeed to consolidate, the significant market share gained in trade relations with the UK, it is essential that businesses understand all the impending changes and prepare themselves as effectively as possible to address them.
To this end, Confindustria, the Italian Trade Agency (ICE), and the Customs and Monopolies Agency are providing companies with training modules focused on customs issues, intended as a practical support tool to prepare for fulfilling all the procedures that the new structure of EU-UK relations will entail.

Each session, lasting 3 to 4 hours and led by specialists, will cover the following topics:

  • Customs and tax legislation in the EU and the UK in light of the Withdrawal Agreement
  • Customs procedures
  • Classification, non-preferential origin and "Made in" status, and rules in view of a free trade agreement. Certificates, authorisations, and product marking or labelling
  • Sectoral applications: business cases relating to the main sectors of interest for Italian companies

The sessions will be held remotely for a limited number of participants.

Participation is free of charge.
